Paul vs Templafy: two answers to your brand guidelines.
Templafy is a Danish document governance platform, active since 2014 according to its site, available both as a PowerPoint add-in and in the browser, with a free agent open since March 2026. Paul takes the problem from the other end: the company’s .pptx file is ingested once, and every generation then comes out in that template.
What Templafy does well
Templafy addresses organisations that manage their templates and brand assets centrally. Here is what the vendor publishes about its product, recorded on 22 September 2026.
- 01
Prompt-based generation, with context files
The tool produces a complete, editable presentation from a prompt and context files: .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .pdf. The resulting PowerPoint is downloaded from the browser.
- 02
An add-in in PowerPoint and a web agent
The “Templafy Agent” add-in is used directly inside PowerPoint, and the same agent is available in the browser. A free agent has opened that generation up since March 2026.
- 03
Azure hosting with a choice of region
Templafy hosts on Microsoft Azure, with a choice of regions: Europe, United States, Australia, Canada. The vendor publishes SOC 2, SOC 3, ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and the Microsoft 365 App certification.
- 04
A free plan and a trial on the Team plan
The Individual plan is free for one seat and does not ask for a card. The Team plan can be trialled for 14 days.
What Templafy was not designed for
These points are not flaws: they follow from the product’s positioning and from what the vendor publishes — or does not publish — on its public pages, consulted on 22 September 2026.
- The free plan relies on predefined themes. On Individual, the formatting comes from themes offered by the tool and from colour customisation, not from your company template. The brand’s templates, layouts and assets belong to the Team and Enterprise plans.
- The .pptx ingestion mechanism is not described publicly. The pages consulted announce agents that use the brand’s “templates, layouts, assets and styling”, without detailing how a .pptx file is taken in. On the public sources, the point remains open.
- The Team plan is published at $40 per user per month. It is limited to 25 seats and its billing period is not published; beyond that, Enterprise is on quotation. Prices are shown in dollars.
- The language of the generated content is not published. The tool offers to “rewrite or translate” content, but the pages consulted do not state which languages it generates in.
Paul’s starting point
Paul starts from the file your organisation already uses. Three facts, taken as they stand from the table below:
- 01
Native .pptx ingestion
The company’s .pptx file is ingested once: masters, layouts, palette, fonts. It is then used for every generation, with no need to re-enter the brand.
- 02
Native, editable .pptx output
Every element produced stays editable in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides. There is no conversion step from a proprietary format.
- 03
Application hosted in the EU, prices in euros
The application, database and storage are hosted in the EU; language models are called at third-party providers under contract. Subscriptions are shown in euros including VAT on the pricing page.

Depending on your context
The two tools do not answer the same question. Here are the situations where each one fits best:
Prefer Templafy if
- You centrally manage the brand templates and assets of a large organisation
- You want to generate from PowerPoint itself, without switching tools
- Your working environment is built around Microsoft 365
- You need published certifications: SOC 2, SOC 3, ISO 27001, ISO 27017
Prefer Paul if
- You want to generate presentations inside an existing .pptx template, without re-entering the brand
- You care about a native .pptx file, editable element by element
- You prefer a European vendor, whose application and storage are hosted in the EU
- You are looking for a monthly or yearly subscription shown in euros including VAT, with the Enterprise plan on quotation
The questions evaluation teams ask
- Can Templafy and Paul be used at the same time?
- Nothing stands in the way: both produce native, editable PowerPoint files. Templafy belongs to a centralised governance approach to templates and brand assets, within Microsoft 365. Paul comes in on a specific presentation: the existing template is ingested, and the generation then comes out within that frame. Distributing the templates and producing the documents are two functions that do not fully overlap.
- Does Templafy read my company .pptx file?
- On the Team and Enterprise plans, the vendor announces agents that use the brand’s “templates, layouts, assets and styling”. The mechanism by which a .pptx file is taken in is not described on the public pages consulted on 22 September 2026. On the free Individual plan, the formatting comes from predefined themes and from colour customisation. With Paul, the .pptx is ingested once — masters, layouts, palette, fonts — and is used for every generation.
- Who hosts what, and what happens to the content?
- Templafy hosts on Microsoft Azure, with a choice of regions: Europe, United States, Australia, Canada, and publishes SOC 2, SOC 3, ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and Microsoft 365 App Certified. With Paul, the application, database and storage are hosted in the EU, with language models called at third-party providers under contract; no certification is published to date. On training, the 2024 Templafy white paper covers the AI Assistant and states that prompts and generations are not used to train the models; nothing is published for the 2026 free agent. Paul states that no model is trained on customer content, with a training opt-out at the model providers.
- What do the two tools cost?
- Templafy publishes three plans: Individual, free for one seat; Team at $40 per user per month for 25 seats at most (the billing period is not published); and Enterprise on quotation. The Team plan can be trialled for 14 days, and the free plan does not ask for a card. Paul offers monthly or yearly subscriptions, Paul and Paul Pro, with prices shown in euros including VAT on the pricing page and an Enterprise plan on quotation. Paul’s trial lasts 7 days with a card and no charge, and the yearly commitment gives two months free.
- How are these facts verified?
- Every cell in the table above comes from a page published by the vendor concerned, recorded on 22 September 2026 and numbered below the table. Where a piece of information is not published, it is flagged as such rather than inferred. Prices are quoted in the currency and for the period shown by the vendor, without conversion. If a fact looks wrong or out of date to you, the “Report an error” link below the table lets you write to us.
